The International Herald Tribune is ¡°the international daily,¡± published by the New York Times and read in 185 countries by over 650,000 opinion leaders. Beginning in 1997, the IHT has created partnerships with influential local newspapers such as Ha¡¯aretz in Israel, Kathimerini in Greece, Corriere della Sera Daily in Italy, Frankfurter Allgemaine Zaitung in Germany, Asahi Shimbun in Japan, Daily Star in Lebanon, El Pais in Spain, and most recently Het Financieele Dagblad in Finland. This global network is continually growing to provide better service for its readers. The partnership in Korea was founded in 2000 and the IHT-JoongAng Daily was launched the same year. It covers important world news and events in a concise manner while providing an objective and fair representation, which readers around the world have come to know and expect. The goal is to provide its Korean readers with a bird¡¯s eye view of the world as it unfolds around them.

The JoongAng Daily is created from the original Korean-language JoongAng Ilbo. The JoongAng Daily staff, with 5 veteran foreign editors and over 20 journalists, creates a new English version of the paper from the original. It covers main news articles as well as original in-depth coverage of diplomatic affairs, foreign companies in Korea, and domestic cultural events in English. In addition to the news, there is an insert dedicated to those learning English called ¡°THINK English.¡± It contains various lessons and educational content to assist readers in developing their English skills. There is also a section on every friday edition called ¡°J-weekend¡±, which provides information on movies, concerts, cultural information, travel and leisure for college students and teens, providing an original flavor to the news for its readers.
In each edition of the International Herald Tribune-JoongAng Daily, you can find Korea¡¯s first Global-Local coverage of international and domestic news in English.
